Skillet Licorice set to perform this evening at the Select Theatre! They will kick off at 7 p.m. We hope to see you there!
The members of Skillet Licorice are in town from San Francisco, but they are a band whose heart lies in Mineola. That’s right! Skillet Licorice, as it turns out, are devotees of the East Texas Serenaders. The East Texas Serenaders were a powerhouse string band from the 1920s and 1930s whose sophisticated take on hillbilly music launched the Western Swing movement. Hailing from farms around Mineola and Lindale, the East Texas Serenaders are generally credited with paving the way for the likes of Milton Brown and Bob Wills.

Join us for a Historical marker dedication on West Commerce Street and Line Street for the East Texas Serenaders on Monday, October 21st from 5:00 pm to 6:00pm. Presented by the City of Mineola's Landmark Commission.

Join the Mineola Landmark Commission for the Dedication of the Big Sandy Creek Bridge (Renamed the Dr. John Thomas Bridge) Historical Marker on Saturday, October 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Mineola Nature Preserve.

The 2024 Fall Hwy 80 sale is October 18th, 19th & 20th. It’s a Treasure paradise. Look for vendors set up all along Hwy 80.
